Our beliefs and values
Many people hesitate to visit a church because they do not know what to expect when they go.
We hope this brief explanation will help you to know what to expect when you are visiting at Northside.
What Will be taught…
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and has authority in all matters of faith and practice. We affirm, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness” so that we “may be complete, equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Because of this conviction about the nature of the Bible, we endeavor to be conscientious in the teaching we provide.
Our goal is to honor God, follow Jesus, and live by the Spirit. We “aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace” as we abide in the “grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit” (2 Corinthians 13:11-14).
What to Expect in Worship…
Our worship is simple, devout, and uplifting. In our worship time together, we draw close to God and give Him glory as we offer up our praise. We believe that as we faithfully worship our Father, we simultaneously receive enduring spiritual strength.
We pattern our worship after the early church model we read about in the New Testament. Each Sunday, we sing songs of praise to God together (Colossians 3:16), speak to our Heavenly Father as we pray (Acts 2:42), give a portion of our income to support the work of the church (1 Corinthians 16:2), participate in the Lord’s Supper in memory of Christ’s death on the cross (1 Corinthains 11:23-29), and proclaim the Word of God (2 Timothy 4:2).
The Church…
We aspire to be Christians whose mission is to follow Jesus. The church is the called out body of believers who belong to the Lord. We endeavor to live out our faith in the context of community. We know we’re not perfect, but we focus on Jesus Christ and the redemption we have received through his sacrifice for us. Our hope is rooted in him, and we trust that he will come again to glorify his people. We are committed to worshipping God, studying Scripture, sincere prayer, and filling our hearts with compassion.
Bible Classes…
We are passionate about Christian education. We are blessed to have dedicated, talented, and well-trained Christians who teach Bible classes for all age groups. We know the whole family can be spiritually nourished by studying God’s word. Topics presented in our classes are biblical, relevant, and faith-building.
